What is the Reggio Emilia Approach? A Short Guide for Parents

The 100-Language Child

According to Reggio Emilia founder Loris Malaguzzi, the child has "a hundred languages" — through drawing, play, dance, music... But most schools take 99 of these languages away from the child.

Classroom as the Third Teacher

In the Reggio approach, the child, the teacher, and the classroom come together. The classroom is a "third teacher"; designed with open shelves, natural materials, and child-accessible areas.

Learning Through Projects

Projects that last weeks or months are carried out based on the children's interests and questions. "Where does rain come from?", "How do ants live?" — such questions turn into research processes.

Family Context

Parents are part of education. Observations are shared with families, and the child's development is interpreted together.

For us, Reggio Emilia is not a stand-alone approach; it is one of the fundamental parts of our holistic educational philosophy.
